What is life coaching for young women?

Life coaching is a process of personal development that aims to help young women and teenagers clarify their goals, identify their values, and build the skills and confidence they need to achieve their full potential.

A life coach acts as a supportive guide, helping your daughter to navigate the stressors of life, adopt a growth mindset, and develop resilience and emotional regulation.

In short, a life coach will help your daughter to step into the best possible version of herself.

A coach will help her to realise her worth, to find her voice, strengths and her authentic self. A coach will help her to overcome the limiting beliefs holding her back, to not be so influenced by others, to take accountability for her actions, behaviours and outcomes, and to step into her true power.

"This program has been like a guide for my life, especially when I’m at an age where everything seems big, scary and confusing. It would benefit the mental well-being of those in my age group as we are surrounded by many distractions and stresses that we are expected to navigate by ourselves. Undergoing this program allows young people to feel supported." - Program participant, aged 16.

Who am I?

I’m Janelle Kee-Sue, a certified life coach and accredited cognitive behavioural therapy practitioner based in Wellington, New Zealand, with a passion for helping young women to grow in all aspects of their lives and step into their most empowered selves.

I found being a young woman really hard, and it wasn't until in my mid twenties that I found personal growth and it completely changed my life. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping young women with their growth paths. I want them to realise the power they have inside of them; to better manage their mind and their emotions, and to realise they’re in the driver’s seat of their own life and can achieve anything they want!

"

"I would absolutely recommend this coaching program to others at my age level, because they undergo the same school stresses as me. They all have goals and aspirations and are often lacking the right guidance." - Program participant, aged 16.

What does a life coaching session involve?

Life coaching sessions are one hour, conducted virtually through Google Meet, and involve one-on-one conversations between your daughter and her life coach.

During these sessions, your daughter will be encouraged to explore her thoughts and feelings, identify her strengths and areas for growth, and set goals for herself. The life coach will provide guidance and support, offering tools and strategies for overcoming obstacles and achieving success.

How often are the life coaching sessions?

My life coaching program for young women, She Thrives, is a 13-week program where we meet weekly for 1 hour per week until the 13 sessions have been completed.

How do I know if life coaching is right for my daughter?

Life coaching is a perfect option for young women and teenagers who are looking to improve their confidence, resilience, and ability to navigate life's challenges.

If your daughter is struggling with stress, anxiety, low self-esteem, or feeling lost or unsure about her future, life coaching may be the perfect solution.

"

"One of the biggest benefits of the program was that I was able to change my negative thought patterns. I could identify them easily and change them. I also learnt to balance my life and that having everything is possible. It changed a lot of my pre-existing thoughts into more positive ones." - Program participant, aged 16.

What's the difference between coaching and therapy?

Counseling and therapy is about the past, while life coaching is all about the future. Therapy is for addressing trauma and diagnosable mental health concerns, while life coaching is for taking action and developing tools for the future.

Coaching should not be a replacement for therapy or counselling. However, they can work extremely well alongside one another. If your teen is getting counselling or therapy, it’s important to discuss whether life coaching would be suitable with the therapist before starting life coaching.

Coaching is well suited for people who are mentally well, but want to improve in every aspect of their lives and reach their full potential.

What are the requirements?

I help young women aged 16-30 who have an interest in having a life coach and want to grow personally, take accountability for their results in life, and do what it takes to make their dreams a reality.

You must be willing to commit to attending 1x online 1-hour session per week for 13 weeks (with exceptions made for illness and unexpected events/commitments).

“I am a year 12 studying NCEA level 2 at the moment, and being a part of this program has changed the way I approached adversity and all the areas of my life. As a result, I have found more balance and meaning to my life. I learnt how to filter out perspectives that were not beneficial to my life, and as a result I feel more confident and mentally stable. I learned to take action, and the different strategies to stay motivated so that I can achieve my goals. This program is able to benefit anyone, but in terms of my experience, it would ease the lives of busy high achieving college students. Janelle motivates you to do better, and be better in all areas of your life!” - Program participant, aged 16.
