Life Coaching for Teens

1-on-1 Coaching and Mentorship
for teens and young women to thrive

Teenage girls and young women have so many stressors in life...

Studies, future career, friends, peers, work, societal pressures, social media, parents… on top of that, they’re trying to discover who they are and find their place in the world.

It’s not easy growing up in the 21st century. These will be some of the most important, and transformational, years of her life, and unfortunately, not many teenagers and young adults have what research says they really need: a completely objective adult mentor they can trust, who can help them figure out what they want most out of life, then create and execute a strategy to reach their goals.

Someone who doesn’t tell them what to do, but instead gives them the tools and support they need to figure it out for themselves and take action. Someone to help them overcome obstacles, to encourage them, and help keep them accountable and motivated as they make positive changes and smash their goals.

That’s what I do.

A life coaching program for young women to thrive

Through my 13-week coaching program, I help young women to become more resilient, emotionally regulated, confident and courageous; to develop self-reliance and awareness of their own superpowers and values, and have a clear vision and plan for the future.

In short, I help young women to step into the best possible version of themselves.

I help them to realise their worth, to find their voice, their strengths and their authentic self. I help them to overcome the limiting beliefs holding them back, to not be so influenced by others, to take accountability for their actions, behaviours and outcomes, and to step into their true power.

"

"This program has been like a guide for my life, especially when I’m at an age where everything seems big, scary and confusing. It would benefit the mental well-being of those in my age group as we are surrounded by many distractions and stresses that we are expected to navigate by ourselves. Undergoing this program allows young people to feel supported." - Program participant, aged 16.

Who am I?

I’m Janelle Kee-Sue, a certified life coach and accredited cognitive behavioural therapy practitioner based in Wellington, New Zealand, with a passion for helping young women to grow in all aspects of their lives and step into their most empowered selves.

I found being a young woman really hard, and it wasn't until in my mid twenties that I found personal growth and it completely changed my life. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping young women with their growth paths. I want them to realise the power they have inside of them; to better manage their mind and their emotions, and to realise they’re in the driver’s seat of their own life and can achieve anything they want!

How does teen coaching work?

My coaching package for teenagers and young women includes a 1-hour coaching session per week for 13 weeks. We meet online through Google Meet and typically sessions are conducted after school/studies on a weekday on the same day and time each week for consistency.

Each week of the coaching program has a different lesson and focus designed for her personal growth and development, including:

✔️ Working out what she wants in life and why.

✔️ What’s most important to her (her unique values).

✔️ How to make decisions with her values in mind (and why that’s important).

✔️ Overcoming the overwhelm and learning how to prioritise.

✔️ Creating a vision for the future (visualisation and mental rehearsal).

✔️ Assessing where she is versus where she wants to be (and how to get there).

✔️ How to set SMART goals and create a goal achievement plan.

✔️ The importance of accountability and taking massive action.

✔️ Uncovering limiting beliefs and what’s holding her back.

✔️ Mindset, identity, thoughts and affirmations.

✔️ Neuroplasticity of the brain and behavioural change (creating healthy habits).

✔️ Tools for overcoming negative thought patterns and emotions.

✔️ How to eliminate excuses and stay motivated.

✔️ The importance of failure and learning from our mistakes.

By the end of our 13 weeks together, she will have a completely different mindset and outlook on life. Importantly, she’ll have the tools, and the confidence, to absolutely thrive.

The program includes:

✔️ 1-hour consultation

✔️ 13x 1-hour 1-on-1 coaching sessions (online or in person)

✔️ Worksheets

✔️ Homework and reflection

✔️ Certificate and letter of completion

"I would absolutely recommend this coaching program to others at my age level, because they undergo the same school stresses as me. They all have goals and aspirations and are often lacking the right guidance." - Program participant, aged 16.

"

What results will she get?

Results will differ for each person, but typical results from my life coaching program for young women and teens include many (if not all) of the following:

✔️ Increased self confidence, self worth, happiness and fulfilment.

✔️ Better resilience and ability to regulate emotions.

✔️ Improved mental health and well-being.

✔️ Increased motivation and drive to set and achieve goals.

✔️ More positive mindset and outlook on life.

✔️ Increased self reliance and accountability.

✔️ Better balance in life and ability to prioritise heavy workloads.

✔️ Improved self-awareness and communication with others.

✔️ Knowledge of how to change unwanted behaviours and habits.

✔️ Academic success and motivation to study and succeed.

✔️ Improved social connections and relationships.

✔️ Less stress, overwhelm and anxiety.

"One of the biggest benefits of the program was that I was able to change my negative thought patterns. I could identify them easily and change them. I also learnt to balance my life and that having everything is possible. It changed a lot of my pre-existing thoughts into more positive ones." - Program participant, aged 16.

Who would benefit most from this coaching program?

Teenagers/young women who would benefit most from my coaching program will meet one or more of the following:

  • have an interest in personal growth and development,

  • are high achievers and want to reach their full potential,

  • need help managing the stressors of being a young adult,

  • would benefit from a mentor and unbiased guidance in life,

  • struggle with negative self image and thoughts,

  • lack motivation with setting and achieving goals,

  • have low self-esteem or low self-confidence,

  • do not realise how amazing and powerful they are!

And so much more.

What are the requirements?

I help young women aged 15-25 who have an interest in having a life coach or mentor. She must be willing to attend one online 1-hour session per week for 13 weeks (with exceptions made for illness and unexpected events/commitments).

What’s the difference between life coaching and therapy?

Counseling and therapy is about the past, while life coaching is all about the future. Therapy is for addressing trauma and diagnosable mental health concerns, while life coaching is for taking action and developing tools for the future.

Coaching should not be a replacement for therapy or counselling. However, they can work extremely well alongside one another. If your teen is getting counselling or therapy, it’s important to discuss whether life coaching would be suitable with the therapist before starting life coaching.

Coaching is well suited for people who are mentally well, but want to improve in every aspect of their lives and reach their full potential.

“I am a year 12 studying NCEA level 2 at the moment, and being a part of this program has changed the way I approached adversity and all the areas of my life. As a result, I have found more balance and meaning to my life. I learnt how to filter out perspectives that were not beneficial to my life, and as a result I feel more confident and mentally stable. I learned to take action, and the different strategies to stay motivated so that I can achieve my goals. This program is able to benefit anyone, but in terms of my experience, it would ease the lives of busy high achieving college students. Janelle motivates you to do better, and be better in all areas of your life!” - Program participant, aged 16.

What’s the investment?

My 13-week life coaching package for teens and young women is $1,049 for 13x 1-hour sessions. That works out to be $80 per session.

The program can be paid for in full, or sessions can be paid for in weekly, fortnightly or monthly instalments depending on your preference.

If you’re experiencing financial hardship but know she would benefit hugely from a coaching program like this, please get in touch with me to inquire about availability of a charitable rate.
